Independence Day

On 15 August 2017, the 71st Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and spirit at NPS International, Mysore. The programme began with the Principal , Ms Shubha Achaiah, unfurling and saluting the national flag. Thereafter, the National Anthem sung by the students and staff filled the atmosphere with a feeling of oneness and pride. In her address, the Principal emphasized the need to display patriotism every single day of the year starting from one’s immediate circle of interaction. She spoke about the importance of being aware of the sacrifices made by our soldiers to keep us safe. Regarding Swach Bharat Abhiyaan, she stressed that it has to start from the self, surroundings, locality and then taken further. The students took an oath to keep our country free from terrorism, corruption, poverty and discrimination based on caste or religion. The students of class VII, dressed in tricolour, presented a colourful programme. It started with the song 'Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara' which invoked a feeling of deep pride and respect for our country. The students performed a dance, sang patriotic songs and recited quotes of great freedom fighters, highlighting the lives sacrificed for the freedom of our country. It was a heart- rendering tribute to the heroes who are an internal source of inspiration.
