They followed the instructions and this activity enabled them to improve listening skills, sense of direction, coordination and balance. The students also understood the visual skills of left to right and right to left this helped them to understand zig zag patterns very well.
Hop Skip Jump : To identify the shape of a circle few hoola hoops were placed on the ground . Each hoola hoop was numbered in chronological order. As teachers called out the numbers, children had to jump and stand on that particular hoola hoop. They were very happy to hop skip and jump and stand on the number. They also understood that a circle has no corners.
Shape Hopscotch : Introduction to different shapes was done through cutouts of coloured shapes kept on the floor. Children had to hop skip and stand on the particular shape called by their peers. A fun way to learn shapes while jumping, improves gross motor skills. This helped them to know the names of different shapes and they were able to relate these to their day to day activities.
Fruit salad Day : It was a joyful day for the students. To understand the importance of fruits and its nutritional value. fruit Salad day was planned as an activity in class. Children had brought their favourite fruit. They were asked to see, smell, and name the fruit. In a big bowl they put the chopped fruits and they were asked to mix it very well. As they kept mixing the fruits they sang the fruit salad song. Each child got to eat the fruit salad and they relished it very much.
Sorting and matching colours : To understand different colours, an interesting activity was done using different coloured balls.. All the coloured balls were mixed and kept in a basket. Each child had to pick their favourite colour plastic ball and put them into the correct colour paper cups. This activity helped them to learn and associate the colours to different objects in their surroundings.
