The senior secondary years lay the foundation for students, to choose from an array of opportunities after they graduate. Careers in the stream of finance are on the rise and therefore, the students of classes 11 and 12 were provided with a unique opportunity to interact with an expert in the field, through a guest lecture conducted in the month of October.

Mr Venkatesh, a highly qualified professional with proven experience of 21 years, the guest speaker, provided the students with an insight into the world of finance and the opportunities it offers. Emphasizing on the fact that the first and most important step is to recognize one’s strengths and interests, Mr Venkatesh added that long term plans are essential to ensure a sustainable career. The students were given valuable information about the main careers in finance, namely- asset management, commercial banking, equity research, rush management, corporate finance, and investment banking.

Students were also provided with crucial details regarding each of these positions and roles in the corporate world. In addition, Mr Venkatesh recommended various national and international institutes, that offer courses in the field of finance, divulging details about pursuing each of these courses. The lecture was insightful and valuable, and achieved the objective of enhancing clarity in students’ minds, of the various career paths in finance that they could opt for, in future.
