Harvard MUN - Redefining Confidence
Harvard Model United Nations India, the four day international relations simulation for high school students, was held between 15 and 18 August 2019, at Hyderabad. The conference gives opportunities for students to debate upon issues that confront world leaders, and draft resolutions in response to these global issues. This year a total of 1700 plus delegates from 80 schools across the globe, took part. The four day conference included various activities and discussions that emphasized on diplomacy, collaboration and social change.
A team of nine students and one faculty advisor from NPS International Mysore participated in the four day conference. The team comprised of Deepaknarayan S Bharadwaj from Class XII, Nageshwar Venkatesh , Janak Sunil, Siri D, Chandni Kushalappa , Ananya Verma, Shashank Raj from Class XI, Ved Kushalappa from Class X and Eeshaan K B from Class IX accompanied by Ms Srilata as the Faculty Advisor. The months of preparation culminated in some impressive outcomes at the HMUN conference. The delegates were well equipped with information specific to their countries and committees.The discussions and deliberations were backed by adequate research and the team made its presence felt at Novotel Convention Centre, where the conference was held.
Deepaknarayan S Bharadwaj, representing Minjur Bhaktavatsalam, in Dravidar Kazhagam, won the Honourable Mention and was awarded a certificate. Nageshwar V representing Bosnia and Herzegovina, won the Diplomatic Commendation in the DISEC and was credited with a verbal mention. All the NPSI Mysore delegates really stood out as exemplary and received a positive feedback from the directors at the conference.
The four days also had sessions like HMUN's Got Talent, Delegate Dance and Leadership Summits, adding fun to the somber committee discussions. The team from our school redefined confidence, standing tall as winners, enriched in knowledge and experience, empowered to make a positive social impact .
