Overview of Mathtrix- Participants' Perspective
Reaching school by half past four in the morning to travel is not every teenager’s piece of cake. However, the excitement of attending and taking part in an event in another city got the better of all of us and we entered the campus of NPS, Indiranagar on 26 July 2019 to be a part of the event ‘Mathtrix’. Only one thought ran through our heads- the goal of being at the top.
There were a myriad of events to participate in: Ratiocinate (a murder mystery game), Bedlam (escape room), Sintax (a math and literature quiz), Tangents (a pure math quiz), Step X( to express a mathematical expression in dance form), Enigma (encryption and decryption challenge) and Picselate (an open event). Each event involved elements of mathematics combined with logic and the seamless fusion of various forms of thought.
A great man once said that if everything goes your way, then probably you are going the wrong way. Well, perhaps that was our learning from the extraordinary Friday. We weren’t able to call it our day but we definitely had lots to take back with us and that is more vital. The key to success is participation and the sooner we learn to accept defeat, the sooner we’ll grow and learn from our mistakes to get closer to success.
The level of dedication and hard work NPS-INR had put into the organizing and conducting the fest was admirable. It was a day of tremendous learning for NPSI Mysore and we promised to come back stronger and finer to represent our school the next time. This math event wasn’t going to take a hit on our confidence but would instead gift us with experience and wisdom.
The bag of knowledge we carried back home will surely prove useful at a later junction in life.
