Mysore - a city well known for Mysore Pak, Sandalwood and the world famous Mysore silk. A field trip to the silk factory is a unique learning opportunity for students.

On 3rd July 2022, 88 students of class 8 along with their class teachers and subject teachers, visited Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd. The team reached the venue at around 9.30am. The main objectives of this trip was to understand the process of silk manufacturing-from thread extraction to weaving, printing, finishing and packing. At the KSIC silk factory, the students were guided by the senior most faculty Mr.Ramalingam, who explained in detail about the spinning of silk, weaving, warping, dyeing etc. The students felt privileged as they got to see the exquisite, real gold silk, which is acquired from Surat and before being sent for quality check to Chennai. Mr Ramalingham also threw light on the pricing of the various types of Mysore silk sarees. The Students learnt about the IAS officer Sri. D. Vijayan, who is a true inspiration for all the employees in KSIC.

Learning about the production of silk was truly a memory to cherish. The trip was successful and it was a truly an educative, informative and memorable experience for the students.
