All the Light We Cannot See
"The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even be touched, but must be felt with the heart" - Helen Keller. The morning of 22nd July 2022 was bustling with excitement as the students of grade 9 from NPSI Mysore were all set to visit the Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust. The students had been quick on their feet, preparing various activities to show empathy uplift the hearts of the visually impaired children at the trust. The past week for them consisted of making an array of cards and practicing songs. The students left the campus at around 8:45 am. Upon reaching, the students' hearts were warmed by the welcome they received. The charity workers there explained how braille was printed and combined to form books. Everyone was fascinated by how fluently the children could read the small dots forming different patterns. Not being able to see, the students of Divya Jyothi Trust found amusement in life's little pleasures. They had a soft spot for music. As the 9th graders sang songs for them, they were passionately singing along. It was surprising to see that they were able to study on the computer just like the rest of us. They used a program, JAWS, that played the letter typed through the speakers. Team NPSI Mysore donated items like stationery, towels, and soaps to the trust. Though the trip lasted for only an hour, the learning was immense and for a lifetime.
