  • “A JOURNEY IS BEST MEASURED IN FRIENDS, RATHER THAN MILES.”

    NPS International, Mysore organized a field trip to the Mysore Palace, which proved to be a unique cultural learning experience, that encouraged curiosity and provided real world experience.

    On 23 January 2023, 79 students of class 6 along with their class teachers and subject teachers, visited the Mysore Palace also known as Amba Vilas Palace and Mysore Aramane. It is one of the most magnificent and largest palaces in India. Children boarded the bus at around 10.15 am and reached there at 10.45 am.The objective of the trip was to appreciate the heritage and rich culture of the Wadeyar Dynasty.

    As the students entered the palace, they were awestruck and quite excited to witness a fascinating array of things in and around Mysore Palace, each of which testifies to the wealth and grandeur of the Kingdom of Mysore.

    Students were mesmerized to see Gombe Thotti or Doll’s Pavilion- a collection of traditional dolls, the Golden Howdah, Kalyana Mantap or the Marriage Pavilion- an octagonal shaped hall with coloured stained glass ceiling, paintings of Dasara Procession, Portrait Gallery- a collection of valuable paintings and photographs of the Royal Family and Casket Room that contains royal collections.

    Children made notes as they walked around. They had many questions to ask about the Public Durbar Hall, and were curious to know how durbars were conducted in ancient times. They were enthralled looking at the beautifully designed Ambavilasa, a hall which was used by the Maharajas for their private audience. The Wrestling Courtyard excited them the most.

    Overall the visit to the official residence of the Wodeyar Dynasty, gave an insight about the rich culture and heritage. Students enjoyed thoroughly, as they could spend a good time with their friends and also made memories which they can cherish forever.

    The trip was successful and it was an educative, informative and memorable experience for the students.
