  • A visit to Planet Earth - Aquarium

Field trips are fun! Even the most vivid and colourful book can’t be a supplement to real life experiences. The visit to planet Earth Aquarium on Friday 8 December was an amazing experience for the students of KG 1 and Mont Juniors. The excitement was palpable as the little explorers armed with curious minds and bright smiles, eagerly stepped into the magical world beneath the waves. The aquarium ‘s entrance greeted them with vibrant colourful fish, setting tone for the underwater journey ahead. Planet Earth has about 150 varieties of ornamental fish, a collection of both fresh as well as marine fish. The children were able to relate to a few varieties which they knew, from their lessons.

The visit did not confine to marine creatures, it was extended to seeing farm animals and pets like Persian cats, turkeys, geese, roosters, guinea pigs, rabbits, different breeds of dogs, pigeons, hamsters and white mice. Students were allowed to touch a few pets. On seeing a Jammuna Pari Goat the students were awestruck. During a walk through the vegetable garden children saw a drumstick tree, a brinjal plant, a mango tree and a banana plantation. Children were delighted to see such big trees and a kennel with canine breeds such as German Shepherd and Labrador.

As a surprise element, students witnessed a pet show and the guide explained about each of the pets. Children could see, feel, touch these pets and found it easy to relate to pictures in their story books. The trip concluded with the imaginary drawing of marine animals, birds and farm animals. It was fun filled trip, with lot of learning involved.
