GUIDING STUDENTS TO BECOME FUTURE READY!

NPSI Mysore, with the desire to line up students’ career and passion, organized a career fair for the students of classes 11 &12. It was attended by prestigious Universities like KREA and Flame, and by organizations like IDB and Princeton Review, which help young minds get accepted into reputed universities in India and abroad. IDP Education Limited is an international education organisation offering student placement in Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Republic of Ireland and Canada. The senior counsellors from IDP briefed the students about universities in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. A detailed insight was provided about their intakes, the best scholarships, approximate tuition fees, the pay scale for part time working, the different courses, internships etc. Getting into universities isn't easy at all. Clearing exams like IELTS, TOEFL and SAT is very challenging and is an essential requirement to get into foreign or Indian universities. Ms. Mukta, the head of Princeton review, briefed the students about why it is important to take these tests and clearing them with really good scores. She explained to students that Princeton review, Mysore is involved in training students for various exams like GMAT, SAT, etc. It focuses on foreign university admissions and helps students in short-listing of schools, test preparations, and visa guidance. Liberal arts education offers and expansive intellectual grounding and helps broaden critical thinking. KREA, headquartered in Sri City Andhra Pradesh, is an institution that aims to educate Indian students in the avenue of liberal arts. Ms Rachna, a representative of KREA, enlightened students about the courses offered at their university and the formalities of the admission process. This talk helped students to broaden their knowledge about liberal arts education and an undergraduate programme at KREA. Flame is another such Liberal arts institution headquartered in Pune. Ms Sadhana, a representative of Flame, elaborated on how their University offers a dual specialisation of having a major and a minor degree and the option of doing a summer internship to boost students’ credentials in their resume. She also, provided an insight into the fee structure, the courses offered and the various scholarships that one could earn. She emphasised that the liberal arts course offered by Flame, having partnered with international institutions, has been truly providing a global experience to Indian students. The Principal, Ms Akhila Dinesh highlighted the fact that that it choosing the right career and a proper university for higher education is a challenge, with the plethora of career options prevailing today. It is very important for students to be guided about how these major decisions have to be taken in life. This career fair aimed to empower students in this direction. All the institutions did a remarkable job in helping students to narrow down their choices according to their resources and interests. This indeed, was an apt guidance session, aimed at making today’s young learners, future ready.
