It is the day on which we reflect on his contribution and struggle against the British, for India’s Independence. Rathan Sandeep of class 4A, K Tvesa Vasavamba of class 4B and Minal Ninada of class 4C, addressed the gathering by speaking about the significance of the day and the principles through which he led his life and fought for the nation’s independence. His philosophy of peace inspired many civil rights movements across the world. To celebrate his contribution to the nation, October 2 is celebrated every year as a national holiday. The students also enlightened that every year, The United Nations Organization observes 2 October as The International Day of Non-Violence, to disseminate the message of ‘ahimsa’ through education and public awareness, and reaffirm the desire for a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence.
