  • Incredible India - Creativity and Culture in Perfect Harmony

    India is a land of diversity with rich cultural heritage. To bring out the essence of this rich tradition, the students of classes 9 and 10 put forth their class presentations on 27 August, 2022. The enthusiastic students came up with creative and mindboggling ideas to amplify the heritage of several states. The event was inaugurated with the lamp lighting by the Principal, Ms Akhila Dinesh. This was accompanied by an invocation song followed by an invocation dance. The school Junior Vice- prefect, Samyukta, gave a brief insight into the significance of Incredible India and the programme for the day

    The Principal extended a warm welcome to the parents. In her address to the gathering, she complimented the students of classes 9 and 10 for their efforts in putting up such a splendid show in a short span of time. She also highlighted upon the rich heritage that our country is renowned for. She emphasized that such events help to broaden the students’ knowledge horizons, as they promote a research-oriented mindset, prompting students to equip themselves with vast information for the presentation.

    The students of class 9A represented Karnataka and showcased its rich culture with gorgeous decorations and beautifully sculpted artefacts. They displayed the famous 'Chittara art' and served Mysore Pak to all. Facts about famous monuments were explained and mesmerizing dances of the state, 'Kolaata', 'Bharatnatyam' and 'Pata Kunitha’, were performed.

    The students of 9B welcomed the parents to the tea-basket of India- Assam, with a beautifully composed poem and a classic Assamese welcome. They served freshly brewed Assamese tea. Gorgeous paintings and 'Muga Silk' native to the state, were displayed. Folklore and history of the state, truly entranced the parents. Delicately draped in red and white, the students performed 'Bihu', the folk dance of Assam, with elegance.

    With a blast of energy and colour, the students of class 9C welcomed the parents heartily to Punjab. The aroma of the authentic Punjabi food and the taste of the sweet 'Lassi' was irressistible. A model of the famous Golden Temple of Amritsar was displayed. Apart from this, the traditional clothing was exhibited with intricate and bright Phulkari work all over. The parents enjoyed the beats of the music as the students performed the energetic folk dance of Punjab - 'Bhangra' and ‘Giddha’.

    The students of class 10 A represented one of the seven sister states of India, Nagaland. They served the parents with black gram pudding and a beverage. There were many paintings of the tribal people and a model of the typical Nagaland house was made that enhanced the beauty of the classroom. Students showcased a cultural program by performing the famous bamboo dance of Nagaland and narrated the prominent folktale of Nagaland “Sopfünuo”.

    Gujarat - the cultural hotspot of India, has a long and fascinating history. It can be considered one of India's most interesting states and its irrefutable that Class 10B did justice to this beautiful region. Going through the presentations of the class depicting Gujarat, was in itself, an incredible experience. The students stole the show with interactive explanations of block printing, hopscotch, delicious traditional food, eminent personalities and the important monuments of the state. Parents were mesmerized as they performed Dandiya and Garba dance.

    “Namaskaram!” greeted the students of 10C, as they represented the state of Kerala and induced the heavenly feeling of God’s Own Country. The boys dressed in white shirts, with white and gold Mundus along with the girls wearing Kerala Kasav Saris, added to the ‘Mallu’ vibes. The class decoration, intricately laid pookalam, board decoration, video,’ palada payasam, Kerala banana chips, Thirvathirakali dance and Kalaripayattu, had transformed the classroom into a mini- Kerala.

    Spell binding dance performances, delectable food items, perfect class presentations, and apt colourful decorations made Incredible India a grand success.
