Kannada Rajyotsava and Language Day Celebration
Karnataka Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day or Karnataka Day, is celebrated on 1 November every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language speaking regions of south western India were merged to form the state of Karnataka. Students of class 3 were dressed in traditional attire and spoke about the significance and importance of the day. Language helps us to express feelings, ideas and experiences. Language always unites people. To enlighten the students with the importance of learning different languages ‘LANGUAGE DAY’was celebrated with great enthusiasm at NPSI Mysore. This year for the first time Language Daywas organized by class 6 students. The entire class was divided into four groups and each team was given the task of preparing presentation on the four languages-Kannada, Hindi, French and Sanskrit. Attired in traditional costumes, the teams visited each classroom in the school and enlightened the audience about the origin, culture, costume and facts pertaining to each language. Their presentations were interspersed with shlokas, riddles and quiz, that kept the audience entertained. Students thoroughly enjoyed participating in the presentations. They researched and learnt a lot during the process. They also imbibed the values of collaborative effort and teamwork. The Principal, MsAkhila Dinesh, complimented the children for their performance and emphasized on the importance of having more such integrated learning initiatives that will strengthen students’ knowledge.
