Young Entrepreneurship Programme 2022
YEP at NPSI Mysore is a beautiful endeavour for the budding entrepreneurs from classes 8, 11 & 12. This event is like a mini start-up India, familiarising the upcoming entrepreneurs through the process of running a business. It is a 3-month-long program, where students brainstorm and finalise product ideas, procure resources, pitch their product ideas to ‘Angel Investors’, engage in production, go through quality checks and eventually sell their products on the Market Day. The profits from the sales proceeds are donated towards charity. The theme for this year’s YEP was “Home Décor’. Once the innovative product ideas were finalised, the parent presentation was held- a prelude that replicated a true shark tank scenario that gave “Angel Investors’ or parents, a sneak peek into all their products. After the investment was received, the actual process of production began. Paralelly, the students of 11 and 12 started to plan for Food Fiesta, to curate creative cuisines and prepare healthy and lip-smacking treats for the taste buds. This was followed by a detailed process of quality check. The much-awaited Market Day of YEP arrived on 19 August. All the students set up their stalls with creative decor, posters, banners, eye-catching lights, and all the products proudly displayed. The grand event was inaugurated at 5 pm through a ribbon-cutting ceremony by our esteemed Principal, Ms. Akhila Dinesh and two honourable chief guests Ms. Alifiya Vagh, Chief Project and Marketing Manager of MAS Furniture, and Ms. Savitha Ranga, Founder of The Hobby Place, Mysore. In her welcome address, the Principal congratulated all the students for the excellent show of talent and teamwork. She acknowledged the effort of the children and praised them for their boundless spirit and enthusiasm. She appreciated the unwavering support of parents and thanked them for being a part of the noble cause. Both the esteemed Chief Guests are perfect role models and are an inspiration to the young generation, to follow their passion. As judges for the event, they found it to be a challenging task, as each stall was unique and outstanding. Students put their best promotional and marketing strategies in place. The products were selling quickly and at the food stalls, students were truly like busy chefs in action, catering to the non-stop demands of food from the crowd. Finally, all stalls were fully sold out and each stall earned more than they had planned for. The final trophies of ‘Outstanding and Excellent Entrepreneurs’ was bagged by The Geek Artistry and The Symphonies, This programme exposed the students to the world of marketing and business and also developed in them a sense of authority, responsibility, and accountability. This event is a significant milestone in inculcating life skills as it teaches resource planning, crisis management and values of humility and benevolence.
