Teachers' Day 2026: A Tribute Written In Laughter And Gratitude
On the 4th of September, the school gathered to celebrate Teachers' Day 2026, a morning conceived and staged entirely by the students of grade twelve to thank the teachers who guide, support, and quietly shape every day here. The celebrations unfolded across two venues, the GMC building and the main school auditorium, bringing together a heartfelt tribute to the earliest mentors and a full-scale show for the rest of the faculty.
The preparations began weeks in advance, a joyful kind of chaos as different groups of students worked on separate segments of the program. The invitation was delivered by a plushie, Aussie the Ostrich, who carried a scroll to every teacher, a gesture that left most of them charmed and smiling before the celebrations had even begun. Grade twelve arrived dressed in traditional attire, while the teachers wore their finest, glowing with quiet happiness. The first performance took place at the GMC building, where seniors sang for the pre-primary teachers who once held their small hands and taught them to hold a pencil. For many, performing for the very people who laid their earliest foundations was tender and, at moments, quietly overwhelming.
The main celebration began after lunch, as teachers and Principal Akhila Ma'am gathered on the lawn for the unveiling of the Teachers' Day banner. The auditorium then came alive with a program built entirely by students of grade 12: a group song steeped in nostalgia, a comic sketch of "not-so-true" classroom moments that left teachers laughing, a live band reviving old favourites, and a dance segment weaving together songs from several languages. The programme closed with a surprise video honouring the teachers' years of devoted service.
Akhila Ma'am closed the ceremony with words that stayed with everyone: "You have set the bar really high." Watching our teachers laugh, applaud, and wipe away a tear, grade twelve felt a quiet joy, the kind that comes from knowing a memory had been built that would be cherished for years. As someone once said, teachers plant seeds that grow forever. This one, we hope, blooms for a long time to come.
The Principal had arranged for a quiz, along with a series of stage performances and dance acts, for all the teachers which continued into the next day, extending the celebrations into a joyous two-day affair. What began as a single day of tribute soon blossomed into a memorable extravaganza, leaving both staff and students with moments to cherish.
