Excursion is a vital part of the school curriculum as it proffers students with the necessary experience that cannot be imitated within the school settings.

The students broke their shells and came out to take part in some outdoor games and various activities such as Tug of War, Rope Course and other group activities. Dubare Jungle Lodge Resort
Excursions add fun and frolic to school life. An excursion was organized for Class VII students on Thursday, 24 January 2019. It was a day trip to Dubare Jungle Lodge Resort. The students gathered at the school premises at 5:30 am and the journey started with a lot of energy and excitement. They sang and danced to their heart's content. On reaching Dubare, the boat ride to the lodge was enjoyed by everyone. There was a good spread for breakfast and one could see the students in good cheer.
After breakfast, the first activity comprised of elephant bathing. From baby elephants to the trained tuskers, all were brought to the banks of the river for bathing. Some students went close to them fearlessly and others hesitatingly but all were amazed to see the elephants’ trumpet, salute and spray water on them again and again.
The students learnt a lot about nature and animal life as a naturalist accompanied them around the camp. The students were treated to a sumptuous lunch after which they went for a jungle walk where they were informed about different varieties of trees, insects, nests, climbers and given an insight about forest life.
Some students enjoyed a game of handball while others preferred to sit and enjoy the scenic beauty of Dubare. The journey back was equally exciting with students dancing to their favourite tunes. All in all, the excursion fully rejuvenated the students and teachers alike and it was great fun.
A Rendezvous with Nature at Windflower
Students of class VIII were taken on an excursion to windflower resort at Coorg on 23 and 24 Jan, 2019. The two days amidst the sprawling coffee plantations was a get away from their routine school life. The students thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the resort with their peers and teachers in the calm, peaceful and serene environment and made the most of it by playing unlimited indoor and outdoor games, enjoying the delicious and sumptuous platter served during breakfast, lunch and dinner. The water polo at the infinity pool and trekking through the plantation, further added to the fun and adventure aspect of the trip. Overall all it was a great learning experience as students had an opportunity to spend quality time in the lap of nature with their friends, where they had to manage things independently. The beautiful memories they made during the excursion will stay forever in their minds and remembered with nostalgia.
A Trip to Ramanagaram
At first, the prospect of Ramanagar as a class excursion destination caused skepticism. However, it surpassed all expectations. We left Mysore on the morning of 9 January and arrived at Ramanagar two hours later. Needless to say, the bus ride was a fun-filled one. The location of Kaadumakki Resort (the place we stayed) gave us an excellent view of the famed rocks of Ramanagara. (Many movies have been shot there). We began our day with scrumptious breakfast at the resort and then proceeded to climb the SRS hill. The steps that were carved on to one side of the hill, led to an ancient cave temple at the top. It was a tiring climb but the breath taking scenery that awaited us atop, was worth the effort. We trekked back to the resort, where we were greeted with delicious lunch.
Shortly after, there was rain dance organized where we danced to the beats of popular tunes while being thoroughly drenched. After a few hours we walked up another hillock, where we were served with snacks and tea. Once again, we were faced with an exhilarating view of the setting sun as we enjoyed inhaling the evening fragrances. At nightfall, we all huddled around a bonfire and danced till we dropped. After a delectable dinner, everyone made their way to the cozy rooms to get a good night’s sleep.
We started the next day by trekking up ‘Karadi betta (the bear hill) called so, for it once used to be the haunt of the bears. We took numerous pictures that added to our collection of cherished memories. We returned to the resort thoroughly exhausted and left for Mysore with some enchanting and memorable stories to narrate back home.
Serene Sakleshpur Forever and Ever!
The 17 of December 2019 marked a special day for the students of class 10 as it was the day they set off on their excursion to the splendid Sakleshpur. It came as more of a Christmas present as they had just finished their assessments and were longing for a revitalizing retreat. Looking forward to a long awaited trip, they got up an extra hour early to assemble at school to begin their adventure. The journey was just as good as the destination as they danced and sang their hearts out in the bus. The first stop was the beautiful Bellur temple which was scenic and had dazzling architecture. The students prayed for an enjoyable experience with friends and teachers. They finally reached Kadumakki Nature Camp. It was a magnificent resort in the lap of nature. A lot of fun team building activities were conducted for the students by Mr. Raviteja, a zealous activity manager. He taught them how to work as a team and accomplish their goals in life. These activities included a very innovative relay with many phases of races, which brought out everyone’s competitive spirit. They also helped farmers by building scarecrows, using waste materials and creativity. As the sun went down, they danced around the campfire with great enthusiasm and had a blast! The next day, the students woke up to a chilly morning and with chattering teeth and shivering palms, they started on an exciting nature walk. The view of sunrise was breathtaking. They went on an uphill trail through the coffee plantations and reached the hilltop. They were transported to a whole new realm of extravagance and it was definitely worth the hike. The students came back down and had a jolly time in the stream. They went on adventure activities in the water like Rope Walk etc. They had a hearty lunch before setting off on their ride back home. They had the time of their lives in the excursion and made memories to cherish forever.
Wayanad – A Place in God’s Own Country
The students of Class 11 went on an excursion to Windflower Spa and Resorts, Wayanad on 3 and 4 December 2018. The students headed out to the resort on the 3rd morning and reached their destination at noon. They were briefed on the rules and regulations to be adhered to by the management. After checking in, they enjoyed a scrumptious lunch before heading out for an evening full of entertainment and games. The resort offered rooms with comfort and scenic beauty, and the students were also provided with an array of activities. They enjoyed playing games like table tennis, badminton and basketball. The resort management conducted a number of fun filled games, which related to development of effective communication skills. Later on, in the evening, music was played and the students danced to various Hollywood and Bollywood numbers.
The next morning, the students went on a small plantation walk. The students were awestruck by the greenery and the beauty of the blue sky accompanying them throughout the trek. The melodious humming of the oriental magpie and large pied wagtail could be heard amidst the exotic tea plantation.
The students ventured towards the pool, swam, played and explored the place making the most of every moment they had at hand. It was a great opportunity for students and teachers to bond with each other. The journey back home was a fun filled one, as they danced all the way. Go Goa….
The year 2018-19 for class XII children started with a bang... as they went for excursion on 10 June to one of the most exotic locations of our country Goa! The excursion was for 3 days and 2 nights but what mattered the most was the memories concrete and irreplaceable! Four teachers along with the Principal Ms. Shubha Achaiah accompanied them on the trip. The group flew to Goa to reduce the travel time as much as possible, but it was those moments of journey that strengthened the beautiful bond between the students and teachers. Heritage Village Club, took the group to a world of fun, frolic, food, pool and the vast expanse of sea. The beach was the place for relaxation, rest and tranquillity. Children spent much of the time in the beach playing with the waves and enjoying the serenity. The group visited Basilica of Bom Jesus, where the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier was kept. They also visited Dona Paula Beach and had a fun ride at Panaji. The trip was a plethora of memories, fun and togetherness. We were humbled by the mystique of the ocean, the beauty of the beach and the culture of Goa. The modern structures appealed to the young and old equally and the ancient ones left them awe-struck. The three days’ trip will probably be every 12 graders’ red letter days rejuvenating them for their last year at this great institution.
