Field Trip to Zoo
A field trip to the zoo is a great way for students to observe animals and feel a connection with wildlife. The purpose was to explore new direction in learning and helping the students to see familiar things in new ways. The students of Montessori Juniors and KG1 were extremely excited to go on the trip. They enjoyed the bus ride by singing songs all the way through. A few of them were very happy to recognize their bus routes as they traveled along the same route to zoo. All the students were curious to see the animals after they reached the zoo. They were thrilled to sit and enjoy the tram ride.
They went around the zoo and asked questions to satisfy their natural curiosity about animals. They explored different parts of the zoo and enjoyed monkeys chattering, bears' dancing, birds chirping and the pocket monkey. The teachers guided them and shared facts about the animals. They were able to differentiate between two similar looking animals like alligator and crocodile, reindeer and spotted deer.
The students enjoyed observing all the animals in the zoo, however a few of them who had visited national parks before, recollected their experiences of watching animals in their natural habitat. The learners enjoyed themselves and had a fun filled learning experience.
