Planet Earth Aquarium
Children of Class II had been on a field trip to the Planet Earth Aquarium on 14th September 2018. This holds around 150 varieties of ornamental fish, a fabulous collection of both fresh water as well as the marine fish, farm animals and organic farming.
The students enjoyed listening to the story of oceanic kings and queens, the fish and were amenable to each and every detail of the marine dwellers. They were fascinated by the beauty of the sea creatures and also learnt about the types of fish, food habits and their original habitat.
The visit did not confine to marine creatures, it was extended to the farm animals and pets like Persian cat, pigeon, turkey, goose, rooster, guinea pigs, rabbits etc. Students were also allowed to touch a few pets. On seeing an Iguana the students were awestruck.
The students got awareness about where our foodstuff comes from and how the flora and fauna are raised. Visiting farm was one of the most substantial ways to reconnect students with farming and animals. It was a great experience to see pets, organic farming and marine life under one roof and connecting all these with human life, was a great example for the students, which made a great impact on them.
The visit to Planet Earth Aquarium was an exceptional chance for the students to learn to safeguard and take pleasure in various gifts that nature has defined for us!
Grade 5 field trip
Go Green- Let's Make our Earth a Better Place to Live
The technological improvement is turning the Earth into a 'silicon world' destroying its natural beauty and habitat. As a drive towards maintaining a green surrounding and as part of outdoor learning, the students of class 5 were taken on a field trip to Sampath Nursery on Monday, the 3 September 2018. They were welcomed by Mr. Venkatakrishna, an employee of the Horticulture department, who gave ample information about the various types of plants, their propagation and the methods of growing different plants. The students were educated about the different methodologies of rearing plants through kitchen gardens, terrace gardens, outdoor and indoor gardens.
At the nursery, Mr Venkatakrishna also demonstrated methods of grafting, layering, potting and re potting of plants. This visit to the nursery made the learners identify few medicinal plants, differentiate between the medicinal plants, the foliages, the avenue plants and the flowering plants. The students enjoyed the process of learning from their visit to the nursery.
A Day in Fire Brigade
"Hard times don't create heroes, it is during hard times the 'hero' within us is revealed" said Bob Riley. Heroes often go unnoticed until needed but are always remembered in times of utmost desperation. They are none other than the fire fighters. They run to danger as most people run away, they leave comfort and safety to answer the call. They forget sleep to serve strangers and hold firm as the strongest of the foundations begin to crack. They aren't just men and women of our community; they are the best part of it.
KG 2 and Montessori Senior students had an opportunity to see such heroes in action and to hear from them how they conduct search and rescue operation and the various ways they extinguish fire. Students were thrilled when they saw the fire engine and the fire fighters in their uniform. The instructor explained the uses of various equipments used in a fire engine. A group of fire fighters captured the students' attention as they demonstrated different ways of extinguishing fire by using fire axe, fire hose, hydrant, ladder and sledgehammer. The excitement of students was boundless when they witnessed the firehose in action. They expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude to the fire fighters for giving them a memorable demonstration.
