A Visit to the Fire Station

The visit to a fire station for the KGII and Montessori Seniors children was a joyful experience. The children were excited to be greeted by the fire fighters. They were fascinated to see the men in uniform and the bright shiny red fire engines that were parked. They followed the fire fighter around the trucks as they explained about different compartments in the truck and its uses. Life jackets, tubes portable pumps and fire extinguishers were also shown. They were amazed to see the two different emergency vehicles called the fire boozer and the fire tender, which could store up to 4500 litres of water. As the fire fighter turned on the hose, a gush of water swooshed out and the excited visitors shouted in glee as the water splashed all over them. The visit to the fire station was inspiring as students observed and learnt how fire fighters at fire stations work, risking their lives and caring for the community.
