Soaring high –Reaching beyond the sky
Class I Hindi students were all geared up and excited to take part in their class activity on Kite flying. Children were asked to bring the kites well in advance. On the day of activity, we took them to the ground where the kites were kept all the kites ready and with the help of Sharath sir, children flew the kites. Children were excited to see the kites flying high. Children were explained how kites go high up in the air and later in the class the Lesson "pathang" was explained relating it to the kite flying activity.
Fun with Subtraction
Just like any other day, students of Class 1 were brimming with energy and excitement to take part in their Math activity. The activity was on the lesson Subtraction. It was a fun way of learning the concept of subtraction through a creative worksheet which was provided to each student. The worksheet had different subtraction facts to be solved by the students. The worksheet also had foldable paper puppets for them to count, fold and subtract to find out the difference. Students solved the worksheet with zeal. They were not only quick and accurate but also enjoyed folding their puppets and colouring them. An activity always brightens the method of learning a concept and keeps the children wanting to learn more.
Healthy Vegetables
Hindi language students of Class 1 were asked to bring their favourite vegetables for the ‘Know your vegetables’ activity. On the day of the activity all the children were excited and happy to show the vegetable and talk about it in Hindi. The significance of the vegetables and nutritional value of the same were explained to the students. Thus the activity enhanced Hindi vocabulary of the students and also they also learnt the names of different vegetables in Hindi.
Know your Vegetables
Kannada language students of Class 1 were asked to bring their favourite vegetables for ‘Know your vegetables’ activity. On the day of activity all the children were excited and happy to show the vegetable and talk about it in Kannada. The significance of the vegetables and nutritional value of the same was explained to the students. Thus the activity enhanced Kannada vocabulary of the students and also they learnt the names of different vegetables in Kannada.
Air is required for burning
An activity was conducted for students of class 1 to reinforce the concept 'Air is required for burning'. The students were taken to the science laboratory to conduct an experiment using candles and beakers. It was amazing to see the zeal and enthusiasm of the students when they entered the laboratory; they were inquisitive to learn many things. Through the experiment, the students were able to infer that oxygen is required for combustion; they also learnt the names of apparatus in the laboratory. Learning through experiment helped the children have a better understanding of the concept.
Adjectives
Students of Class I were all geared up and excited to take part in their class activity on adjectives. Learning adjectives as ‘a word describing a noun’ was learnt in a creative way by the students. They drew a colorful picture representing themselves with various adjectives written around the picture relating to their character. The students came out with different adjectives like smart, talented, intelligent, tall, fair, brave, honest etc. The adjectives not only gave them an insight to its usage but also gave them a chance to explore their strengths. They finally shared the adjectives which described them with their peers with pride. The children enjoyed putting up their best work on paper.
I See, I Think, I Do
To make classroom learning interesting, we believe in classroom activities, both indoor as well as outdoor. Keeping this is our motto, students were engaged in several hands on activities.
In one activity, the Children were taken to the sand pit and were given chance to play using the paper cup in creative ways. They proved their creativity by thinking, observing and concentrating. They were filled with joy and excitement.
Another activity was craft work where they exhibited their skills by making lanterns to celebrate Diwali.
To understand the shapes of different kinds of leaves, leaf print was done. Through this activity, children were able to identify the different kinds of plants. It was a pleasure to see the children do this activity.
Flying high –Reaching out to the sky
Class I Kannada students were all geared up and excited to take part in their class activity on Kite flying. Children were asked to bring the kites well in advance and on the day of activity, we took them to the ground and kept all the kites ready and with the help of Hemanth Bhaiya and Sharath sir children flew the kites. Children were excited to see the kites flying high. Children explained how kites go high up in the air and later in the class the poem "Gaalipata" was explained relating it to the kite flying activity.
