Speaking about different Flowers
The students of class -V were encouraged to bring a flower of their choice to school for an activity on flowers. They were also instructed to collect information about the flowers and speak about it in the class. They have done it very well and enjoyed speaking about it. This activity has helped them to enhance their Kannada speaking skills and vocabulary. It also helped them to get to know more about different flowers. The learners got a platform to speak and showcase their talent.
To Differentiate between Congruence and Similarity
An activity was conducted for the students of grade VII on the topic 'Congruence.' The students were encouraged to find out the objects from their everyday life that are similar in nature but not congruent. This was done to check whether the two triangles were congruent and if their corresponding angles were equal and not the sides. They were also asked to check whether a pair of rectangles was equal in area when they have different length and breadth. The students were given a week's time as it was an individual activity to collect information and pictures.
They were able to differentiate between similar and congruent figures under three different criteria given and enjoyed learning through this activity.
Roman Numbers - Quilling Activity
An activity was conducted for the students of Class V in Math regarding Roman Numerals. Based on the operations on Roman numbers, learners were given a few challenges to solve. They used quilling strips to represent the Roman numeral statement and tackled the given challenges by applying the rules and operations involved in Roman numbers which enhanced the critical thinking skills. The learners thoroughly enjoyed this activity.
My Hero - A Talk on Favourite Sports Star
An activity was conducted for students of class V in connection with the lesson 'The Hockey Wizard of India'. The learners learnt about passion, commitment, never-say-die spirit that Dhyan Chand Singh possessed as a sports person through this lesson
The students had to speak about an eminent sports personality of their choice for two to three minutes from the information they gather about their 'Hero'. This exercise gave the learners an opportunity to speak confidently in front of the audience and also enhance their speaking skills.
Earth on our Finger Tips
The question of Earth being 'Flat' or 'Geoid' has been a matter of ambiguity among the students. Class V students had an activity to understand the shape of the Earth and the ways to locate a place through the important Parallels and Meridians. Through this activity the learners absorbed the complex concept in a simple and joyful way by depicting the Earth through a ball with its parallels and Meridians drawn on it.
Reduce…….Recycle…….Reuse.
On the occasion of The World Environmental day, students of Class 5 were assigned an activity to create something useful with plastic wastes. They were given ideas, as to how they could use the plastic bottles in different ways to make the best use of it. The class chose to make the plant hangers using 1 and 2 liter water bottles and juice bottles. They were informed to procure the required materials on a given date. The teacher assisted them to cut the bottle in the center horizontally and remove a part of the bottle. Then they were taken to the kitchen garden to fill the bottles with garden soil and sow the seeds of coriander, fenugreek and green grams in the soil. They were instructed to water the seeds gently every day and observe the growth of the plants. The two ends of the bottles were tied with a twine and make it like a plant hanger, which they could hang it in their respective houses. After a week, the seeds sown were fairly grown and the students were very happy to observe the growth of the plants.
