Germination of Seeds
Little children are curious about life and growth of living things. The germination of seeds activity was done with the aim to help Montessori seniors understand the growth of seeds to plants. In this activity, students used coconut shells as biodegradable pots to grow saplings. They understood that roots would grow only when the soil is loosened and they sowed seeds after filling the shells with soil. They also learnt to regulate the amount of water that seeds might need to grow. They were really excited to see their seeds grow within a few days. Their happiness was boundless when they saw little saplings growing in their shells.
