Montessori reading is based on a strong foundation of phonetics. This multi-sensory approach is unique. It helps students in building words before actually reading them. The activity of reading the cards and pairing them with picture cards was conducted as Montessori juniors are able to build three to four letter words. Picture cards were arranged on a mat and name cards were mixed. Students were asked to read and match it with the picture. This activity helped children to remember and associate names to pictures. It also gave students further practice in reading and comprehension through visualization.
