Unitum Symposium
Model United Nations Conference or MUN, is a platform to discuss debate and solve problems at a global level. 'Unitum Symposium 2019', the first Interschool MUN of NPS International, Mysore was held on its campus, with Delegation on a Mission as its motto.
About 138 delegates, from 8 schools of Mysore and Bangalore, participated in this three-day event, from 22 July to 24 July 2019, making it one of the biggest MUN sessions hosted in the city. They were- NPS Rajajinagar, NPS Koramangala, NPS Indranagar, NPS HSR, NAFL, DPS Mysore, Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama and I CAN- TLC.
Mr.Vishnu Mangalvedkar, an alumnus of NPSI Mysore and the Prefect for the year 2016-17, was the Secretary General for Unitum Symposium. He is currently a member of the student council in the School of Law, Christ University and a core committee member of the Advanced Criminal Law Committee. He is also an ambassador of affairs of the International Relations and Foreign Policy at Christ University.
The committees included DISEC, UNODC, Lok Sabha and IPC, with agendas that incorporated discussions on terrorism, LGBTQ rights and human trafficking. The [DISEC] Disarmament & International Security Council had the agenda to combat terrorism in the African Continent. The [UNODC] United Nations Office of Drugs & Crime focused on the agenda of Drug Trafficking and Legalization of Drugs. The Lok Sabha, discussed the agenda of Creating a Modern Approach for Rural Development in India and Formulation of LGBT Rights in India. The [IPC] International Press Corps was the Body that challenged every delegate in the conference to be the pillars of Truth and Facts.
The delegates discussed and deliberated upon issues that concern our society today. These committees left a deep impact in 3 days. Yes, the diplomats and dauntless debaters took a stance to make a positive difference through mods and unmods, aiming to create specific resolutions. The inauguration and the valedictory ceremony saw scintillating cultural programmes staged by the students of NPSI Mysore.
The National Academy for Learning, Bangalore(NAFL) emerged as the victorious team, bagging the award for Best Delegation.
